"Fun Night Out" is a unique experience for you and your friends to share. It's also a great way to build memories with you family (ages 15-18 with parent or responsible adult present.) After a 3-hour flameworking class, we can move to our lounge, share some snacks, drinks, and stories.
Duration: 3 hours, plus 1 hour complimentary studio time per person within 30 days (Participants 15-18 years of age must be accompanied by their parent or responsible adult.)
Schedule: Check our calendar for dates for "Glass Beadmaking - The First Steps." If these dates and times aren't convenient, contact us to schedule an alternative.
Prerequisites: A desire to learn, explore, and have fun; a steady hand is a plus
Class size: 3 - 4
Fee: $65 per person, includes all materials, equipment, and use of our lounge for a 1-hour post-class celebration. You may bring your own snacks and beverages.
By the end of this class, you should be able to:
- Light and adjust a propane and oxygen torch
- Handle glass and glass tools safely
- Create stringers (stretch molten glass into thin rods, like pulling taffy)
- Twist two colors of glass together into a cane
- Form and shape a basic bead
- Add simple decorations, including dots and stringers
- Recover from typical beginner’s challenges
- Create a small suite of beads you can turn into jewelry
Complimentary practice time:
To help you develop your skills, each person who completes this class receives
1 free rental hour, including tools. (Participants under 16 years of age must be accompanied by their parent.)
NOTE: Because beads must be placed in a kiln to cool gradually, your work will not be available for pickup until the day after the class. If you prefer, beads can be shipped to you for $5.
